Description

"Tree Landscape, Harold Cohn, Landscape, Watercolor Harold Cohn (1908-1982), was a successful painter, printmaker and teacher working both in Detroit and New Jersey. His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries around the country including, The Detroit Institute of Arts (1933-45), The Carnegie Institute (1941&43), The Los Angeles Museum of Art (1945), The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (1934), and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (1942). During his extensive career, Cohn explored many different elements of contemporary art. These influences can be seen in many of his drawings and paintings; much of his experimentation is thought to be reminiscent of Matisses art work. With such a striking comparison, it is no wonder that Cohn has such an extensive auction record. This striking watercolor by Harold Cohn, entitled "Tree Landscape, is truly a masterful work of art. His tremendous skill is evident in the loose brushwork defining the soft landscape that he is portraying. Delicate texture is swept across the sky and smooth light blue tones stretch across the land, fading into the background. Bold and confident brush strokes impressively make up the trees that recede into the distance. This whimsical watercolor landscape painting has been professionally framed by Le Chateaus reputable in-house framing studio and their renowned master framer. It is individually crafted and expertly matched with a beautiful gold frame that remarkably enhances the light gold paint strokes in the artwork. The piece is double matted with a misty blue top mat and a black bottom mat, both successfully complementing the glorious painting. The signature of the artist is found in the lower left corner of the watercolor painting. This exceptionally beautiful landscape and very expensive frame is $3,900. The piece measures 20 x 26 and would be an astounding addition to any collection, looking exquisite on any wall.
